The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Genetics, Genomics, Evolution, and Development (GGED) Division, at the Assistant Professor level. Position description We broadly seek applicants studying fundamental aspects of genetics, genomics, evolution, and/or developmental biology. We welcome candidates working across model systems and approaches, from molecular, cellular, and quantitative genetics to genomic technologies, comparative and evolutionary biology, and the mechanisms governing developmental patterning and organismal form. We are particularly interested in scientists whose work opens new conceptual or technical directions for the division and who will complement and extend our existing strengths. This position would have the opportunity (if desired) to interact with the Innovative Genomics Institute, the Advanced BioImaging Center, the Developmental and Regenerative Biology group, and the Center for Computational Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Faculty at the assistant rank in our department demonstrate excellence, originality, and productivity in research, the strong potential to obtain external funding, a capacity for excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs, and a commitment to service consistent with Berkeley's principles of community. Applicants are encouraged to visit Molecular and Cell Biology (https://mcb.berkeley.edu/) to learn more about the department and our mission. Our department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents.
