Contribute to the Tree of Sex consortium research survey on how sex is defined in biology I am a member of the Tree of Sex consortium (https://www.treeofsex.org/), a collaborative, international initiative to compile a database on reproductive systems across all eukaryotes. Sex is an important component in many aspects of biological research. However, the meaning of “sex” is the subject of increasing debate in both scientific and social contexts. We are conducting a survey to find out about how scientists define sex. We hope you will take the survey and share with your colleagues. Contribute to the Definitions of Sex survey http://univie.questionpro.eu/definitionsurvey http://univie.questionpro.eu/definitionsurvey The survey consists of 17 scientific questions (14 multiple choice and 3 short open responses) as well as questions about your experiences and background. You can start and then save to continue later. Participation should present no greater risk than every day use of the internet. All questions are optional to answer and survey responses are confidential. This study was approved by the Ethics Review Board at the University of Vienna (reference number 01453) and adheres to the European Union general data protection regulations. Full participant information can be found at the Tree of Sex GitHub (https://github.com/Tree-of-Sex/Ethics_and_Inclusivity). Please forward this email and share the survey with your colleagues, trainees, collaborators, departments and networks. We appreciate your time and contribution toward identifying the ways scientists understand sex!
