We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in palaeogenomics, who will join David Díez del Molino’s research group at the Centre for Palaeogenetics in Stockholm and the Department of Zoology at Stockholm University. The position is initially funded by the Carl Tryggers Foundation as a scholarship (tax-free stipend) for a period of 21 months. The start date is flexible, but the candidate should ideally start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will join an international research project (MAMBA, https://www.mamba-erc.com/) which aims to understand the origins of large mammoth bone accumulations and exploring the function they played for the hunter-gatherer societies during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). The candidate will conduct both laboratory work and computational analyses of palaeogenomic data from woolly mammoth remains from diverse locations in Central Europe. The aim is to genetically characterize the individuals and groups represented in these locations as well as to track population genomic diversity changes through time. The applicant must have a PhD in genomics, evolutionary biology or a similar subject. Ideal candidates should be creative and ambitious with a track-record of scientific achievements in population genomics and/or evolutionary biology. Prior experience in palaeogenomics, bioinformatics, and/or computational genomics will be considered important merits.
