The Sundaram Lab at the University of Georgia has a postdoctoral position open to model global infectious disease patterns and animal hosts.
The successful candidate will be housed in Athens, GA, within a vibrant research community in the University of Georgia. Our lab specializes in combining computational tools, spatial modeling, and machine learning to understand disease dynamics, forecast epidemics, and quantify zoonotic potential across global scales.
The postdoctoral scholar will play a central role in conducting data-intensive research across the full arc of zoonotic spillover and human outbreak events. Responsibilities include co-creating research questions; acquiring and harmonizing large-scale ecological and pathogen datasets; building predictive, spatial, or machine learning models; synthesizing literature; writing manuscripts; and presenting findings to scientific audiences.
This position is ideal for researchers passionate about applying ecological and evolutionary principles to infectious disease problems. Prior experience and/or enthusiasm towards data science, computational modeling, and applying quantitative frameworks to pressing ecological and public health challenges is a plus.
