Postdoc: UMichigan.PopulationGenetics The Bradburd Lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan is seeking applicants for an NIH-funded postdoc position in population genetics. Research in the lab is focused on the geography of evolution, and particularly on developing statistical methods for spatial population genetics/genomics. The focus of this postdoc will be on the application of Ancestral Recombination Graphs (ARGs) for spatial population genetic inference. Lots of room for independence in determining specific research directions, but possible topics include using ARGs/tree-sequences to infer heterogeneous dispersal surfaces or study spatial dynamics of selection/local adaptation. Our work combines computational and statistical approaches, with a strong emphasis on simulation and empirical data analysis. The position is ideal for someone with training in statistical, theoretical, or computational population genetics, and/or someone with a strong background in evolution, mathematical biology, statistics, or computing, and an interest in population genetics. The lab is committed to fostering a kind, inclusive, and collaborative atmoshpere, and is located in the beautiful Museum of Natural History building on University of Michigan’s campus. Ann Arbor is consistently rated as one of the most “live-able” cities in the country. Details: 2-3 year position, start date flexible (ideally Fall 2026 or Winter 2027), pay on NIH scale, benefits very competitive. How to Apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a PDF of their CV along with a cover letter describing their research background, relevant experience, and future research interests in the lab to Gideon Bradburd (bradburd@umich.edu). Informal inquiries welcome! More information about the lab can be found at www.genescape.org. (to subscribe/unsubscribe the EvolDir send mail to evoldir@evoldir.net)
