PHYLOGENETICS WORKSHOPS AT THE XLIII HENNIG MEETING
Bogotá, Colombia, and online
6-8 and 14-16 November 2026

The Willi Hennig Society offers three workshops in connection with its XLIII Annual Meeting (9-13 November 2026, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia). Each workshop costs USD 100 and admits up to 30 participants. Attendance at the meeting is not a requirement.

1. PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS AND USE OF TNT: 6-8 November 2026, Bogotá. Instructors: Pablo Goloboff (Unidad Ejecutora Lillo, FML-CONICET, Argentina) and Michael Pittman (The Chinese University of Hong Kong).

Tree analysis with TNT, taught by the author of the program. The workshop covers tree searches, support measures, and the analysis of large matrices.

2. PHYLOGENOMICS: FROM GENOME-SCALE DATA TO EVOLUTIONARY INFERENCE: 14-16 November 2026, Bogotá. Instructors: Cinthy Lorena Jiménez Silva (University of Auckland, New Zealand), Jordan Douglas (Australian National University, Australia), and
Ambrosio Torres (Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, Germany).

Analysis of genome-scale data, from assembled sequences to phylogenetic inference.

3. PHYLOGENETIC BIOGEOGRAPHY WITH PHYGEO: 14-16 November 2026, online. Instructor: J. Salvador Arias (Instituto de Biología Subtropical, CONICET-UNaM, Argentina).

Phylogenetic biogeography with PhyGeo, taught by the author of the program. This workshop runs online, so participants may join without traveling to Bogotá.

Applicants then receive payment instructions by email, and payment confirms the place. The deadline is 31 August 2026.

TRAVEL AWARDS

The Willi Hennig Society funds students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career researchers who present at the XLIII Annual Meeting. Priority goes to students who present their work and also participate in one of the workshops. Applications close on 31 August 2026, the same day as workshop pre-registration.
