Looking to build your skills in species modeling? Check out the online course "Species Distributing Modeling" from Center for Wildlife Studies (https://www.centerforwildlifestudies.org/) this fall. DESCRIPTION: The long list of approaches to determining the boundaries of a species’ distribution can be split into three broad categories: presence-only, presence-absence, and presence-background models. This class will focus on contrasting the assumptions and modeling goals of each modeling framework, providing a solid foundation for applying these techniques to a broad range of applications. We emphasize the importance of selecting the appropriate modeling techniques to fit, evaluate, and extrapolate modeling outputs. We will demonstrate how a suite of R packages can be utilized to perform the analyses required at various stages of a modeling exercise. For each module in this course, we will work on a case study to illustrate the main stages of a modeling exercise, which will guide you to advance in your final project (for those working on one). DATES: September 8 - December 20, 2026 FORMAT: Fully online, learn-at-your-own-pace PRICE: From $450 students/unemployed; $550 employed Early bird discount (saves at least $75) when you register by August 9 DETAILS & REGISTRATION: https://www.centerforwildlifestudies.org/courses/p/species-distribution-modeling Emily J.
